Background Info
Jeremy Teresa Lewis is an actress and artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Raised in San Francisco and introduced early to a wide variety of cultural influences, Jeremy saw the world as a place filled with all kinds of people and things. It was a world where differences counted, but whether they were to be scorned -- or celebrated -- was a matter of personal choice. As a little girl with a boy’s name, she quickly discovered the importance and the beauty of self-expression.
Frequently performing in community productions, school plays, and choir recitals, Jeremy took to the stage happily and fearlessly, and enjoyed acting and singing throughout childhood.
During college at UC Santa Cruz, Jeremy performed from 1995 to 1998 with the university’s Gamelan and Indonesian Dance troupe, dancing both female and male roles. She also began seriously studying theatre from a literary perspective, concentrating on American Drama. She developed a passion for library research, which led to experiments in the interdisciplinary application of theory, and eventually to authoring original theory. These practices, which Jeremy continues to this day, have proven invaluable in writing and developing original characters.
After moving back to San Francisco, Jeremy embarked on a successful career in real estate marketing and administration. Also acting as a fundraising administrator and manager’s assistant, Jeremy gained experience with a number of local non-profit organizations. Meanwhile she was regularly producing surreal artwork, writing characters, and collaborating with other artists.
Jeremy eventually took her departure from the corporate work world when she embraced her gifts for fabric styling and food styling and began working in product photography in 2006. Also producing private parties and styling sets for photo booths, she has so far enjoyed 3 years of satisfying creative and collaborative work as a stylist. Using skills such as origami, collage, ironing, hand-sewing, needlepoint, draping, pinning, and design, and making pastries, hors d’oeuvres, sauces, and beverages, she has worked both on her own and as an assistant to other stylists.
But for Jeremy, vocal styling is also a part of the package. Seeking improvisational acting workouts all along as a hobby, and in recent years rediscovering her once-locked singing voice, she is harnessing her sensitivity and intelligence as an actor. Jeremy’s regional and foreign language pronunciation is a major strength. She has performed in a handful of languages. Jeremy welcomes and entertains creative linguistic challenges above all other artistic banter.
